Dr. Pinsky is definitely grumpy but he knows what he is doing. I recommend him to everybody.

Recently I had a prescription from Dr Jerry Pinsky for glasses from his Pointe-Claire clinic inside Lenscrafters store. I ordered the glasses at Clearly Contacts in Vancouver as it costs lot less. I received the glasses and seemed not quite right. I went to see him again to show the glasses and examine them. He was quite rude on me saying 'I'm not going to check those glasses as you got them from some unprofessionals and that's beyond my ethics'. I told him 'Glasses cost over $550.00 at Lenscrafters and I got these under $200.00, is that wrong? I can't afford over $550.00 just for my glasses'. He said doesn't want to waste time talking to me. I requested him to give me the measurements of my eyes so that I could send them to 'Clearly Contacts' to redo the glasses correctly. He refused rudely. Me and my family always went to Dr. Pinsky for our eye exams and we found him very friendly (probably because we always ordered the glasses at 'Lenscrafters' paying a lot). Once he found I had the glasses made somewhere else and at a fraction of what I'd be paying at 'Lenscrafters' he showed the real face. I felt very insulted by Dr. Pinsky, that's why I wrote the above to share with others. Ehsanul

I saw Dr. Jerry Pinsky for the first time at the LensCrafters location at the Fairview mall in Pointe-Claire. I have NEVER had a more thorough eye exam as the one he gave me. I informed him that I am a diabetic, and he told me he takes that very seriously. He asked for a list of my medications. After the exam he said, "I want you to come back next week for a follow-up exam at no extra charge. With diabetics, it's not a good idea to issue a lens prescription based on just one exam because a change in the sugar levels can affect the outcome." I returned the next week and there was no change after another very thorough examination, so he issued the prescription. I chose to buy the lens at LensCrafters but not the frames because they did not have any that I liked. The prescription was as good as it can be for one at 59 years-old (back then). Now, at 61, I returned to Dr. Pinsky. I had to search for him because he had left that LensCrafter outlet and gone to work at 3 different Greiche & Scaff outlets (one in Dorval, one in Pointe-Claire and one in Laval). Please note that any optometrists who work in these places are independent of the company in whose store they are located. They sign a contract with such retail companies to use space for their clinics because these companies like to have eye doctors on site ... and, of course, it's likely that the majority of customers end up buying their eyewear there, but Dr. Pinsky never once even mentioned where I should get my prescription filled. I recommend Dr. Jerry Pinsky highly. I suspect that he does not take any rudeness or pushiness from anyone, and while he might appear a bit gruff on the surface, he has a wonderful sense of humour once you engage him.
